WE LOST A FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE KINGSTON TRIO LAST WEEK

Nick Reynolds, the short member who played tenor guitar, passed away this last Wednesday in San Diego.  And did you know he was a graduate of the University of Arizona and went to Coronado High School?  Earlier this year we lost John Stewart who had replaced founding member Dave Guard in 1961, which meand valley resident Bob Shane is the last member left!  The group had such an influence on me - probably as much as The Beatles in some ways, as I learned to play guitar listening to Kingston Trio and Peter Paul & Mary albums.  Janey & I saw Bob and Nick just a few years ago in Scotttsdale, and they still had the old spark!  The video I’m posting today, was the last time Nick, Bob, and John , performed together and was recorded in August of 2007.  The bodies may have started failing them, but the love and spirit between these guys was still there!

When you’re stuck for something to watch cause all the new releases are out, rent COOL HAND LUKE.  It still holds up, and it features one of the all time-classic lines in film.  Take a look at the trailer and will remind you even more of our loss.  Pauk Newman really was cool on and off the screen!
